Bank Holiday Weekend - SWCP Lynmouth to Combe Martin

Image
SWCP PIII Lynmouth to Combe Martin 15 Miles It took as a while, but we are back again to do some more of the Coast Path. This time, as well as Pog (Rosie the dog) and the lovely Amie, we are joined by our daughter Bethany and Tom her husband.  After arriving on Thursday evening, and with a Marathon looming at the end of September, Friday was the day for running. I left early and ran from the camp site the 2.5 miles down to Woolacombe and then enjoyed a 3 mile run barefoot in the sand along the beach, before returning to the campsite. Refueling on Jammie toast we then left along with Amie and Pogs to take the Traka Trail the 5 miles into Ilfracombe and the verity statue in the harbour. It was a lovely cool run through the woods, past the reservoir and then into the town. After a photo stop we headed back the long drag to the caravan and after a short extra loop completed 11 miles and 19 in total and in time for lunch. The rest of the day was spent relaxing with Bethany and Tom...

SWCP Porlock Weir to Lynmouth

Section 2 Porlock Weir to Lynmouth 12th April. The sunny weather of the previous few days had passed. As we left Porlock Weir it was cloudy day with a strong westerly, biting wind. The path crossed a couple of fields with little lambs as we left Porlock Weir on the path climbed into woodland. Glimpses of sea was all that was on offer on the first half of this walk and the sound of the waves echoed up through the trees. There were still many interesting things to see on this walk. A couple of tiny Churches hidden away from the world. Tunnels that you have to walk through and other derelict tunnels near the track and a bridge over the path with a turret. This was all seen from the lower path. then skirts the side of the Exmoor hills. There is a higher path with panoramic views, but we did not fancy the extra climbing and length that this entailed. Soon after we crossed from Somerset back into our home county of Devon the Path opened out with better views. We found a seat made...

Pog Does SWCP This Blog is about our adventures with Pog a fluffy mutt who loves to walk, run and explore the great out doors. Her real name is Rosie and she is was a rescue puppy from the RSPCA Little Valley Animal Sanctuary nr. Exeter. Her Mum was a small collie and her Farther a mystery, though she has many triats of a Springer Spaniel. Rosie is looked after by Tim and Amie. We live on the East Devon Coast and have loved to walk and run the local sections of the coast path and have covered  all the path nearly from Exmouth to Weymouth. Unfortunately we never kept a record of the dates we have completed the sections. So here goes. A Blog recording the route, out of order and over a long time, but lets see if we can do it all. Hopefully we will record all the sections on GPS and post links to the activities here. Section 1 Porlock Weir to Minehead - April 10th 2017 It was a Sunny but cold day with a biting North Westerly wind. After catching the No.10 bus from Minehead t...
